Understanding the Uses of AB Rhinestones

'AB' stands for Aurora Borealis, the amazing natural light display in the sky, mainly in high latitude regions across the Arctic and Antarctic. It was a name Swarovski used in partnership with Dior to portray the effect achieved when a very thin layer of gold was vacuum-coated onto the surface of crystal. The play of facets, colors, and reflections of this coating made an effect similar to viewing the Aurora Borealis..stunning, sparkling and rather unearthly.

As more companies added the technology to their ranges, the term became extensively used and today it is shortened to the somewhat less alluring 'AB' term you see after such colors as Emerald, Crystal, Rose.

Many factors are there that change what you will see from one crystal to the next. In other words, as varied as the Aurora Boreale can be, the effect of the AB coating can also be very diverse. AB coating applied to light colors produces an effect which is delicate, glowing and soft, similar to the soft colors seen on the surface of bubbles in certain lights - soft green, pinks, soft yellow, and soft blue.

High Quality ab glass rhinestones are full of sparkle! Use on shoes, apparel, nails, crafts, or bags. It is recommended an industrial strength adhesive when applying your rhinestones. Due to lighting, colors may appear slightly different in person in comparison to what you may view on your computer or phone screen.  All rhinestone and pearl packs are carefully packaged in distributor's factory. Stones and pearls are packaged using a specific formula and will differ by count in each pack as it is unfeasible to count each tiny stone individually.  The number of rhinestones or pearls listed is only a close estimate.

Rhinestones and pearls with AB and metallic coatings will show signs of wear and tear sooner than usual colors.

Rhinestones and pearls are made using color lots, and some batches of the same color might look slightly different. The ab rhinestones have been tested by the manufacturer to meet the requirements of lead content and are well under 100ppm.
